Welcome to the church of Christ. If you are not a member of the church, we hope your experience today will cause you to want to be with us again and again. Perhaps you are trying different churches looking for a place to belong. If so, what criteria will you use to make your decision? The common response is, “I’m looking for a church I can be comfortable in.” If misapplication of scripture makes you uncomfortable, then that can be a good standard to follow. But if you mean you are looking for a church that doesn’t talk about repenting of your sins or the consequences of sin, then maybe you should be looking for a church you can be UNCOMFORTABLE in. You see, here, we fervently follow the Word of God. We do only what the Bible authorizes. Consider this: “For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.” (Hebrews 4:12). Getting poked with a two-edged sword is unpleasant. The Word often points out areas of our lives that need to change. Those who are members here listen to the Word every Sunday morning, Sunday night and Wednesday night, plus we read our Bibles daily. Why? Why endure the poking and prodding? Because we realize we need constant encouragement to stay on course in our quest to be Christ-like. “All discipline for the moment seems not to be joyful, but sorrowful; yet to those who have been trained by it, afterwards it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness.” Hebrews 12:11. The discipline we receive from God is not always a pleasant thing. In fact, it can be rather sorrowful but the harvest of righteousness makes it all worth it. Jesus will bless your life if you will allow him to. I hope you will choose to be part of His church.
Welcome to the church of Christ.
