Boys will be boys. There is typical boy behavior and typical girl behavior and it has to do with how God made us rather than social norms. God did not make the first man the same way He made the first woman. Taking the man’s rib He “fashioned” the woman from it, Genesis 2:22. We are both from the same Maker but fashioned differently for a reason. Men and women are different and thank God we are. Little girls are stronger at birth. They have a higher birth survival rate. It’s not until about the age of ten or twelve that boys become stronger than girls. Mature men have 30% more red blood cells in each drop of blood than a woman has. Peter refers to the wife as the weaker partner, 1 Peter 3:7. That’s not a derogatory statement, that’s a physiological fact. Men have 40% muscle tissue on average compared to 20% in women. No doubt there are some strong women and some weak men, but far and away, men are physically stronger, able to work longer. And yet women survive hardship better. Women have a higher survival rate in concentration camps. They also have an extra layer of fat cells which makes their features smoother, makes them prettier. Women gain weight easier than men and have a harder time losing it. (Can I get an “Amen,” sisters?) Men are better at depth perception, have thicker skin and heavier bone density. Men are 80% left brain dominant, while 80% of women are right brain dominant. That’s just our physiological differences. We communicate differently, react differently, think differently, which is wonderful in so many ways. It’s okay to be a woman and it’s okay to be a man. “He created them male and female, and He blessed them and named them Man in the day when they were created.” Genesis 5:2. It is not wise to try to be what you are not. Be what you are. Be what God made you and rejoice.
Boys will be boys.
