Purpose. Life needs purpose. There has to be a reason we are here. If God made us, what did He make us for? If it wasn’t God, what was it and why do we exist? Those questions are as old as time itself and the answers range from absolutely absurd to undeniably true. Are you looking for purpose? Do you think about why you are here? You are not here by accident. There is a loving God who created you and left for you a book of instruction called the Holy Bible. This book says, “For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities--all things have been created through Him and for Him.” Colossians 1:16. God created you and brought you to live on this earth for a purpose. “For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.” Ephesians 2:10. You were created to do good things determined for you before the beginning of time. Why walk the earth doing things God did not create you to do, using your body and your mind in a way God never intended, missing your true purpose in life? The original word for sin is an archery term meaning to miss the target. When we sin, we miss the target, the purpose for which we were created. “Yet the body is not for immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord is for the body.” 1 Corinthians 6:13. God created your body, but not for sexual immorality. Drug and alcohol abuse is not what God created you for. Lying, gossiping, tearing others down, is not what God created your tongue for. The Bible can show you your true purpose. “This will be written for the generation to come, That a people yet to be created may praise the LORD.” Psalm 102:18. Find your purpose.
