Treasure Statements

Do you want to strengthen your family? Try this. Get a set of clear jars, one for each member of your family. Have each family member’s name printed or taped to their personal jar. Set them together on a shelf or counter in the kitchen or living room where they will be seen every day. Next to the jars place a stack of small papers and a pen. Encourage each family member to write little Treasure Statements to each other at least once a week. All positive. Each note needs to be uplifting. Each family member thinks of something encouraging for each of the other family members at least once a week and writes it to them. They leave the Treasure Statement on a paper clip/clothespin attached to the jar or lid of the one they wrote to. After the recipient reads it, have them put the note in their jar. Every so often empty your jar, go back and read the Treasure Statements. When you are having a rough day or feeling down or just need a reminder that there are people who care about you is a good time to read them. Proverbs 3:27 says, “Do not withhold good from those to whom it is due, When it is in your power to do it.” Thee members of your family deserve something good from you. Don't withhold it. Let them know that they are appreciated. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 says, “Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing.” This little family exercise doesn't hardly cost anything. It doesn’t take much time and yet it can richly bless your family. Weekly messages from parents to children, children to parents, sibling to sibling, husband to wife and wife to husband goes a long way to strengthening the family bond. Sometimes it's the little things that make the biggest difference in our lives, This is a great way to let everyone in your family know they are treasured.
