Change A Life

Existentialism is the view that there really is no purpose in our existence. We’re here. We do exist, but there is no explanation or reason for us being here. This all just happened. Human life is random. There is no pattern or meaning to the things we do or the things that happen to us. If you are a Christian and have believed in the God of the Bible all your life, it is probably hard for you to imagine that anyone could hold such a hollow approach to life. You might be thinking only a person who has never heard of Christianity could believe such a thing. For the most part you are right. There are many people on earth who do not know about salvation through Jesus. No one has told them they were created by a loving God who can offer them direction and meaning. “’For I know the plans that I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.’” Jeremiah 29:11. Some will tell you that existentialism is compatible with all religions, but it is not possible to study and follow what the Bible teaches and still believe life has no meaning. Existentialism is not compatible with Christianity because our faith becomes the reason why we exist. Christianity opposes the view that life accidentally evolved over millions of years, that there is a totally natural explanation for our existence and all that is around us, our entire universe. Christianity teaches “For thus says the LORD, who created the heavens (He is the God who formed the earth and made it, He established it and did not create it a waste place, but formed it to be inhabited),” Isaiah 45:18. Our generation has way too many existentialist. Many of them want out, they want a purpose. You can help them find it. Maybe you can’t change the whole world but you could change the life of one.
