Welcome! It is so good to have you here for services at the Lake Road Church of Christ. We’re glad you joined us today. You’ll find us to be a warm, friendly bunch. We extend kindness and encouragement to one another. Someone is likely to give you a warm hug or handshake to make you feel welcome and glad you came. It is nice receiving attention from others but hopefully that is not the main reason you are here. As believers in Jesus we come together to give rather than receive. “In everything I showed you that by working hard in this manner you must help the weak and remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He Himself said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'” (Acts 20:35). What we receive when we assemble as saints is wonderful, but the greater blessing is in what we are able to give. Some may leave services today feeling slighted because, “nobody reached out to them.” What most likely happens is we rob ourselves of the blessing by not reaching out to others. When we come expecting others to do for us, we often leave disappointed. There is a mind-set each of us should establish before we arrive. Just as the song leader, those serving the Supper, the preacher, all take time to prepare themselves for service, every member should take time Sunday morning and prepare themselves to contribute to the wellbeing of this assembly. “But encourage one another day after day, as long as it is still called "Today," so that none of you will be hardened by the deceitfulness of sin.” Do not think of yourself as a spectator but rather a participant in what is going on this morning. Be involved in the worship There is someone here today that you can be an encouragement to. It may not be someone you normally talk to. They may or may not be your age. Look around and find someone who needs a faith lift.
Welcome!
