On the first day of every week we gather as a church family to express to God through song, sermon and prayer, how grateful we are for our salvation. We are blessed to live in the United States where we can worship according to the Bible without fear of judicial persecution. Our country has been through good times and hard times, but few as hard as what happened to us 25 years ago when terrorist hi-jacked four commercial planes and used three of them successfully as weapons to bomb the Pentagon and the World Trade Center. This heinous, hateful crime launched us into war with Osama Bin Laden and the Al Queda and has forever etched 9/11 in our hearts and history books. There is a verse in the Bible that says, "I will make Jerusalem a heap of ruins, A haunt of jackals; And I will make the cities of Judah a desolation, without inhabitant." Ironically this verse is found in Jeremiah 9:11. The Bible describes times when God punished a nation by using another nation. There were nations who became so corrupt God arranged a destructive event to thwart the furtherance of evil: ''The land which you are entering to possess is an unclean land with the uncleanness of the peoples of the lands, with their abominations which have filled it from end to end and with their impurity.'' This verse appears in Ezra 9:11. But that does not mean every time something bad happens to us it is because God is punishing us. The Bible also says, “I again saw under the sun that the race is not to the swift and the battle is not to the warriors, and neither is bread to the wise nor wealth to the discerning nor favor to men of ability; for time and chance overtake them all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11.) What can we learn from 9/11? Any nation which stands in opposition to God will fall. We need God. Let’s put our trust in Him.
